How Does A DISH TV Work?

DISH TV provides television content through satellite services. A satellite dish is installed on your home and acts as a special antenna that focuses on a specific broadcast source—in this case, a satellite in space. A satellite dish is a parabolic surface combined with a central feed horn. The controller transmits a signal through the feed horn which is then focused into a beam by the dish. The television data is then relayed through that beam, from the satellite in space to your television at home.

Satellite technology has come a long way in the last few years. Satellite internet is faster than ever before and satellite television quality is equal to that of cable. Despite all of these advancements in satellite technology, the basic premise has stayed the same.

Satellite TV is essentially a type of television programming that is wirelessly delivered to televisions sets via a network of radio signals and communication satellites. Broadcast signals are transmitted from satellites in space and received by local satellite TV systems that then distribute it to customers home satellite dishes.

Satellite TV service is also sometimes referred to as direct-broadcast satellites (DBS or DBSTV). DBS providers are the one that actually select the programming and broadcast that programming to subscribers based on what package they purchased. In this instance, DISH Network would be your DBS.

Satellite technology is a great way to get all of your television content, especially in you live in more rural areas! Don’t wait, get DISH Network today.
